It's the end of another work day and I'm waiting for my frozen lasagna to heat up. Tonight is my dumbek drum class and at the moment I don't feel like going. But I'm sure once I get there I will feel better. I've been stressing out over my article that was approved for publication in the RUSA Quarterly journal. I started the small survey with a colleague, who has since left, over two years ago. My department had an administrative assistant who did some of the tallying of data but I needed to double check her work. Then I didn't do much with it for about a year as day-to-day work piled up. Although I presented some of the findings at a 2003 FLA Conference session with Darcy. I began work on the paper last fall and submitted it to another publication in December. I was not impressed with how they handled my manuscript as they forgot to tell me that no one reviewed it becuase they were searching for an editor. So that ate up four months. But now the paper has been revised and is almost ready to be submitted for likely another round of revisions.

I'm not looking forward to getting up at 4:15 tomorrow morning to catch a 6:00 am flight to Tampa. It's the inaugual meeting of the Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute. I was one of the lucky few (40 to be exact) librarians in the state to be chosen to participate in the year long event. I'm sure it will be interesting but at the moment I'm not motivated for it as I have other things on my mind. It will be good experience and beef up my resume.

Hurricane Charley devasted parts of Florida last Friday. It was a strange feeling to have such a powerful storm only looming 100 miles away. Southeast Florida was fortunate, this time, as there are still three months left in the hurricane season. I fly to Spokane late on the 24th and arrive there at 5:00 am EST - fun! I just booked a Kia Rio rental car with Enterprise for three days and saved $16 compared to Dollar. I'll pay $93 for three days. I rented from Dollar last year but their prices were jacked up $10 a day! The year before that I rented from Rent-a-Wreck but they went our of business. It will be nice to visit Spokane and it may be the last time I'm there for a while. Not sure if I'll make it back next summer - depends on where the hell we are living and if we will be getting married then or not.

I haven't been working out much lately - most of the summer in fact due to the extreme heat and staying late at the office. Darcy and I need to look at the ACRL website for their teaching practices that the UAE Library wants. I guess that's all for now...
